PUBLIC SKATING AND HOCKEY

Public Skating - October 14 2012 to March 17 2013

**********please note there is no Public Skating on the following dates due to private function and tournaments:

Cruisers are on the ice to help ensure the safety of the skaters, however, parents are encouraged to accompany their young children whenever possible.  Any skaters that are playing tag, skating too fast or disrupting the flow of other skaters will be asked to leave the ice immediately.

To ensure the safety of all skaters during Public Skate, you are expected to abide by the rules and regulations for this program. Thank you for your cooperation!

Please note, everyone participating in Public Skate must wear skates on the ice.  Helmets are not mandatory, but are strongly encouraged.

Leisure Skate

The Leisure Skate program runs from October to the end of April.

Registration begins September 1.   $59.90 (HST incld) per pass.

We are pleased to offer a weekday skating opportunity for adults, seniors, and preschoolers.  Held at the Timken Community Centre Monday through Friday, Leisure Skate provides a relaxed atmosphere for recreational skaters.  School-age children are not permitted.

Each day, there is a 50-minute session for adults only and also a 50-minute for adults and preschoolers.

To participate in this program, just purchase your season pass at the Parks and Recreation Department office, located just inside the front entrance of the St. Thomas Timken Community Centre at 2 Third Avenue. The cost for 2011 - 2012 is $58.15 (HST included) per adult skater, (preschoolers are admitted free of charge).  If you can only skate periodically we now offer $2.00 daily passes starting in January.

Included in your Leisure Skate pass is a program called "Little Players". This is a great chance for little ones to hit the puck into the net in a quiet and unstructured format.  Supervising adults provide all the guidance needed. Little Players will run each day M - F for 50 minutes.

50+ Hockey - October 2012 to April 2013

$295.86 (HST incld) 

This great recreational hockey league is designed for players 50 years and older who are available to play weekday games.

The league has 6 teams: The Curmudgeons, The Blind Bats, The Viagra Vipers, The Cardiac Kids, The Pacemakers, and The Couch Potatoes. 

All 50 games are played Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 8:30am to 1:00pm on the Rink A of the St. Thomas Timken Community Centre, 2 Third Avenue.

Registration will take place in the Parks and Recreation Office, 2 Third Avenue, Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.  Bring in your registration form or mail to: Parks & Recreation with cheque payable to the City of St. Thomas, P.O. Box 520, St. Thomas, N5P 3V7. 

The league runs April to June at the Timken Community Centre.

• No schedule changes unless divisions are realigned

The City of St. Thomas Environmental Services Department will be holding a Public Information Centre (PIC) for the development of two new parking lots on the north side of Centre Street on the former CASO Railway Lands with 21 and 34 spaces, respectively, and a new angled parking area with 10 spaces on the west side of Metcalfe Street, for the specified project limits.
