PARKS

Visitors to St. Thomas will be impressed by our parks and recreation facilities. St. Thomas enjoys a rare Carolinean Climate, greatly expanding the list of plants, flowers and trees that thrive here. As a result, we have one of the most outstanding parks systems for a city its size with thirty-one parks spread over six hundred acres (243 hectares).

The Parks and Recreation Department invites you to enjoy the beauty and recreational delights of its two main parks:

  • Pinafore Parkin the southwest section of the city, offers ninety acres, (36 hectares), of rolling topography and peaceful trails that  draws thousands of visitors each year.
  • Waterworks Parkat the northern city limits, is over one hundred acres, (40 hectares), of rustic charm and ranks with the top beauty spots of Southern Ontario

Please join us next June 2011 at the Morris F. Jones Bandshell as we showcase incredible local talent for all ages!

Bring a lawn chair or take advantage of the benches at the bandshell.

All groups perform free of charge.  Freewill donations are collected each week by the performers.  Your generosity is greatly appreciated by the musicians!

Movies-in-the-Park

The Park’s and Recreation Department hosted St. Thomas’s first-ever “Movies in the Park” Saturday, August 28th, 2010 featuring Shrek 4 Forever After. The event took place at the bandshell in Pinafore Park and was a wonderful success! This is a great opportunity to offer the community an activity that will get people of all ages out of their homes to spend quality time with family and friends. Movies in the Park is free to the public and is an extremely positive use of the park, as it showcases a beautiful setting to enjoy a summer evening.

A very special thank you to all of the sponsors who contributed in making this evening a success.
